Dawn is currently a member in good standing of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and an active member of PFLAG Kearney, an LGBTQA+ support group. Dawn enjoys assisting clients in gaining relief from the negative symptoms associated with trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and transgender issues. Dawn is committed to facilitating hope and personal growth in her clients by utilizing person-centered cognitive behavioral approaches with an understanding of the influence of family and community systems. Dawn provides empathic, non-judgmental services to all individuals in order to help them experience relief, inner-acceptance, and peace.
Dawn spent 15 years working with adolescents and adults in informal settings. At the same time, Dawn was a full-time mom, raising four children of her own. This experience helped Dawn gain a foundational knowledge and understanding of individuals and families. Dawn has lived in the Kearney community since 2008. Since moving to Kearney, Dawn has worked on fine-tuning her skills with adolescents and their families by working with the child welfare system in both out-of-home placement and in-home services settings. Dawn expanded her horizons by completing her advanced practicum at the Grand Island VA Medical Center in Grand Island. This was an incredible experience where she was able to work with veterans and their families regarding end-of-life issues and mental illness in older adults. Dawn also had the privilege of teaching a post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) education class and co-teaching a PTSD group. Dawn enjoys working with the LGBTQA+ community and specializes in transgender issues. Dawn is excited to bring compassion and hope to you!
