“The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are.”
Change is hard, and change is possible. However, lasting change requires a community of people who are dedicated to walk with you, celebrate with you, and challenge you. The Nebraska Wellness Counseling & Recovery Intensive Outpatient Program is dedicated to providing a safe space where you can gather with like-minded folks in a group atmosphere and individual time to process the past, evaluate the present, and consider the future for yourself. While we all have different, yet possibly similar, experiences throughout life, it is through connection and belonging we can give and gain in unity.
“Individuals are wounded in relationships and can heal in relationships.”
A significant part of the program requires group therapy. This experience is both difficult and fulfilling, and it is valuable to the foundation of recovery. Research shows positive outcomes for implementing group counseling to overcome together and not alone. Dependence and addiction affect people from all walks of life preventing them from living healthy, happy, and productive lives. A group setting is where each member is working towards the same goal in a safe place.
“Success is built on the sum of small efforts, repeated day-in and day-out.” – Robert Collier
We believe recovery and healing is on a continuum of treatment options. The Nebraska Wellness Counseling & Recovery Intensive Outpatient Program is a step down from inpatient hospitalization or residential treatment and a step above weekly outpatient services. The 10-week program offers flexible scheduling and equips members through the transition into a new life.
“As an athlete benefits from the weight room, a person in recovery benefits from a community.”
Change does not happen overnight, and it takes time to build a new life. Nebraska Wellness Counseling & Recovery emphasizes grace in the non-linear journey of recovery, focusing on practical strength-building for a better life and implementing a continuum of care model. You are the athlete, and we provide a training program that will offer collective care from other providers on the journey of transformation.

Intensive may sound intimidating. It is considered intensive due to the scheduled hours of treatment with the clinician and support groups. You will meet in office for at least 10 hours per week with the option for telehealth sessions on an as-needed basis.
Outpatient is accommodating to your life outside of therapy services. You get to work, sleep in your own home, and resume a daily life with a high level of support. Group and individual sessions are available to adapt to best fit your schedule.
Programs are structured, practical, and evidence-based. The 10-week curriculum is designed to help you overcome trauma, prevent relapse, heal relationships, and learn skills that enhance your life. The primary treatment methods include the Matrix model, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, and relapse prevention.

Committing to the process of an IOP is just that – a commitment. A candidate for the IOP will:
Have a desire to make positive changes in their life.
Have a safe living situation and a supportive group of people.
Have a stable routine that supports medication compliance and productive behaviors.
Have a good understanding of the goals they want to achieve through treatment.
Have the ability to take responsibility for their own recovery and follow through on goals.
These are the very reasons for IOP to be effective and successful. When substances start to take over a person’s life, one or more of these things are compromised.
Life in recovery is continuous learning. A candidate for the IOP will be open to explore different levels of clinical topics and psychoeducation offered and embrace the interactive learning environment. Group session topics include:
